Tamale Triangle Part 2

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

In Tamale Triangle Part 1, we discussed how Respect is THE Foundational key to your success with your Mexican workers.

Here’s a few ways to show and build respect.

1.  You must know family is everything to a Mexican.

Family comes first. Unlike to most Americans and baby-boomers (that would be me), typically work is first.

2. Ask about the worker’s family. Weddings, babies, baptisms, birthdays.  Show sincere interest because Mexicans have a very sensitive BS meter.

Why? Shows you care about the family. Remember, family always comes first.

3. Ask how the children are doing in school.  Give school supplies as gifts for the kids. Crayons, pencils, paper.  Even a laptop.

You see, by doing this, you are helping the kids get an education. We, as Americans, take our free education for granted.  Most of your Mexican workers have less than a 9th grade education.

In Mexico, education commands respect.

Don’t worry about “childless” Mexican employees asking why they
didn’t get anything. Mexicans are logical on this one. It would be stupid to ask. Even if they don’t have children, they see you care about families.

WARNING: But, your typical white American worker that doesn’t have children might think “where’s my piece of the pie?”.  American’s are individualistic. Not good or bad. It’s just how most Americans are raised.

By the way, large American employers are freaked out about showing this kind of interest.  Politically sensitive mamsy pamsies say this is an invasion of personal space…  makes people uncomfortable.

They don’t get it. They don’t know American culture. How can they know what makes Mexicans tick.?  I know.

4. Your sincere interest makes your Mexican employees MORE comfortable with you. If you’re not sincere, practice.

You want to leverage Mexican culture to a win-win gain.

That means respect and money for your worker’s FAMILY.

It’s why they came here. It’s what they want.

Cranked up profits and less frustration for you- It’s what you want.

Go for it. Make the choice. Get in the respect habit.

In my Mexican Worker Secrets programs, you’ll discover dozens of ways to show and gain respect…..

…..ways you wouldn’t know unless you spent years like me studying and researching what makes Mexicans tick.

Stop guessing and offending.  Know and respect. Win-Win.

Tamale Triangle Part 1 of 2

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

Today, you’ll find out about the TAMALE TRIANGLE.

Contrary to popular belief, the Tamale Triangle is

not the experience of getting lost after one too many

margaritas in a pine-sol scented Mexican bar.

The Tamale Triangle is the KEY to your success beyond stupid industry norms with your Mexican workers.

You want to hit a grand-slam in your business, not just some dribbler to the pitcher.

Draw a triangle or visualize it : A triangle with equal sides.

Inside the first side is TRUST. The second side is

MORALE. The last side is LOYALTY.

Underneath the triangle is RESPECT.

In Mexican culture,

Respect is the foundation of the Tamale Triangle.

  • Respect drives trust.
  • Respect drives morale.
  • Respect drives loyalty.

(For the H2 program users: just because your workers return each year doesn’t mean they are loyal to you- that’s another discussion)

Respect creates the environment where motivation

grows and stays at high, profitably productive levels.
